Here's the story...
It all started when I was discussing the poor shape of the music industry with my friend and how their business model is not designed for today's society. He then suggested that we should start a music label, and change the way business is done so that everyone can benefit. Going with this concept I came up with the wild idea to give 80% royalties to artists, something that is unheard of. I then started to think of how to make that happen.
Throwing out the record label textbook, we are working on ways to promote and distribute music for artists that use the latest trends in technology. In the meantime we are following philosophies and morals that we believe in to make sure that what we're doing is in the best interest of the musicians.
Re-inventing the label
So what sets us apart from other labels? Well for starters, no other label gives 80% royalties to artists. In fact, most don't even come close to that. While other labels are still trying to figure out how to use MySpace to their advantage, we are looking ahead to the next big music site. As new websites and distribution methods come out, we'll be figuring out how this will help artists gain more exposure.
There's a reason artists have a fan base, so why change their image or style of music? We give artists as much creative freedom as possible and want them involved in the decision making processes. If an artist doesn't feel comfortable distributing their music through a certain venue or has suggestions of other ways we can promote them, we are all ears.
How to join
